Fresh off the release of his alluring debut single ‘The Day That You Left’, Melbourne Pop Prince Jake Marra is back with his latest track ‘Medicine’ and it is an absolute banger. Thumping synths, fat beats and catchy hooks delivered with pure pop panache dominate this irresistible bop. The track speaks on co-dependency, the idea of having to rely on somebody else for your own happiness:
‘You’re my medicine, I take it to feel good again / I’m going crazy, come and save me, I think you’re the cure’.
On the track, Marra shares, “Having someone you enjoy being around is great, but when you can’t handle being on your own and become addicted to another person, you’re in big trouble...Realising I could channel my pain into catchy pop songs was the best discovery I’ve ever made.”
Marra may have only released his debut single earlier this year, but he already started making waves back in 2015, even catching the attention of Ariana Grande herself who called him "a genius".
If you vibe Aussie musos like Troye Sivan and Ruel, this track is a must listen! We can not wait to see what the future holds for this unapologetically pop, Ariana Grande-approved, star on the rise!
“Jake's got something that's both sparkling on first sight and tough to the touch. Well balanced new school pop sound!” - Dave Ruby Howe (triple j)
“It's a smoky, late night pop song that, despite having a very different vocal, hits me with those same midnight movement inducing vibes as The Weeknd. Some very clever, subtle production underneath it all too.” - Tommy Faith (triple j)
